LOST LOVE

LOST LOVE THE WORST OF ALL LOVES

FLEETING BUT SWEET AS THE SWEETEST PLUM

PICKED OUT OF THE BLUE

THEN SOMETHING IS SAID IN HASTE

WITH A LIFETIME’S REGRET

AND IT VANISHES

LIKE MELTED ICE

ON A WARM BRANCH IN SUMMER

NEVER TO RETURN

AND AN EMPTY HEART IS LEFT

VACANT AND ALONE

BUT THE  MEMORY LINGERING FOREVER

AND SUGAR WILL FALL OVER A SOURED HEART

AND SWEET WORDS CARESS TO GLUE A BROKEN SPIRIT

WILL FORGIVENESS BE THE GIFT HE BEARS?

FROM A TRULY SORRY SOUL

OR WILL THERE BE AN ETERNAL WASTELAND OF LOVE

CAN LOST LOVE BE FOUND AGAIN

OR IN THE DEPTHS OF DEEPEST SEA

GONE FOREVER!?

A day to live!

garden-plants3

Daybreak is a heart weighed down

Then sunshine reflecting on an elderberry tree

Clusters of flowers as bright as snow

A butterfly chaffinch on the feeder

This year’s chick already astute

The rusty red mushroom of a Japanese maple

Eloquence in a dancing yellow rose

My wooden regal eagle

The dial of eternal time

Tubs clustered in fragile purples

And golden leafy passions

Fighting branched out conifers in sea green

White button flowers of a red hat lady

Pleasures of intoxicating blue dendrums

This is my warm breakfast on a cold day in Summer

Mine for the taking lunch, dinner and supper

A day to live and breath Mother Earth

And bathe in sunlight and bring blossom to a pale heart!

Dried Up

I look at the paper in front of me

As blank as my day

There is constant solitary

And my thoughts are far away

What of worth can I place on the page?

An empty colour of white

And I know with my outrage

That something isn’t right

I shower to cleanse my soul

Of shabby artistic talent

A  good write is my goal

Will my gift warrant?

Cloudy days of bilious hours

An empty soul am I

But I walk within the towers

Of humanity who cry

Madness is my life

Fiery thoughts to contrive

Undesirable is your time

The devil gives you a high five

No applauds now or after

One of minions forgotten

Been and gone the laughter

And a sadness ill gotten

So upon the page I place a dot

In the sea of a million words

A  foolscap of names that I forgot

Never to be heard!

The Mood

Dark_Thoughts_by_yayacosplay

Numbness of thought the soliloquy of a tentative mind

Always occurring in a frenzied current of calm beneath the stillness of a thought

Inspiration from a dream which desire cannot bestow realities in conclusion

Hesitant to live out a world which prods wounds with forever healing

Keep out and away is the threat I believe is mine alone

You mean little in the giant oblivion of my soul

Temptation derides my hungry wholeness

Forever sacrificed in the abiding limbless arms of cotured love

Give me my sight so I can tread blindfolded to your open heart

And my vision so I can watch you dismember my body down into the rich wholesome Soil!

PROGRESS!

Under_Construction

We’ll make your house look better!

And save you lots of money

Mainly on your heating

In the cold weather

Doesn’t matter that the boilers we installed

And radiators in your home

Don’t work adequately

And can’t be regulated at all!

We’re now having rendering

Placed outside your walls

And it will be so worthwhile

You won’t be sorry at all!

It’s almost done looks like there’s an end

To the havoc caused

All the mess and noise

That almost sent me round the bend!

“Oh my God!” I say when I have a look

It’s like someone has spewed pink porridge

All over my outside walls

A catastrophe in my book!

And progress yet again

Has gone way backwards

And those who have no say

Always suffer afterwards!

The moral of this story is

Be grateful you have a roof above your head

Because homeless you could be instead

And in your own spew exist!!

My Father the Pole!

The barn was struck by lightening

The night that he was born

It was all very frightening

Granny to the church rushed him that morn

Her intention to bless him would be his fate

This newborn was at death’s gate

Into the font this baby she did drop

But buoyant he floated right to the top

It seemed all through his amazing life

All the happiness and strife

Even during days of war

Concentration camp and more

A ray of light shone on his head

Since the love of granny’s hand

And since that eventful morn

Upright forever he would land

Living life in a foreign country

Wedding a girl of raven haired beauty

Four children he had good and proud

And happiness he found

Few drops of holy water newborns are blessed

This child had a font full more than the rest

Lucky he was all his life through

Finally dying at age 92!.

A Recipe of Love

images

Recipes can either be good or bad

Depending on the ingredients

Then comes the Cherry

Tall dark and handsome

With a smile as cheeky as a new head of Spring buttercup

And eyes as grey as a sea sky on a stormy day

With excitement not to be uttered

But behind the glass of ice

In a Winter’s frozen lake

He belongs to another

Out of reach

Never to be stolen

This recipe of love

Never to be baked

Like a teddy at a fare

A shot from a rifle’s winning treat

But to be missed

No bells in the air for you

Blossoms in the hair of his young darling

And caresses to die for

You would die tomorrow without

Gone as the Winter’s tale

When young Spring arrives

Coming from Summer’s sweet sunny embrace

To be dreamed afar

A lost love buried under Autumn leaves

In another year and out with the old

In with his bonny love and out with your vintage red wine

But this recipe will remain

In the book of eternal memories

The sweetest of confections!

The Xmas Bird

431583885_970

The Xmas shuffle was coming

On its way to everyone

And Mary housebound and lonely

Couldn’t imagine an emptier one

Her house visitor came once a week

And asked Mary what would she wish

If she could have anything this Xmas

What would be her gift?

I would want to see Larry

A message to him I would send

But don’t know where he is

And he is my only friend

Mary sat by the window every day

Looking out into her garden with nothing to say

She watched the seasons come and go

This morning her roses were covered in snow

Today was Xmas Eve

Suddenly a Robin appeared on her sill

It stayed for a while

And Mary sat very still

“Oh! Little bird grant me a request!”

“Bring to me Larry on Xmas Day”

The Robin bright and fluttering

Spread its wings and flew away

Then Mary sleeping in her bed

Dreamed of Larry when both young

She was 20 again in her head

And youth its song was sung

Xmas morn her carer came

Then a knock upon her door

Mary you have a visitor who can it be

And there stood Larry once more

The carer knew Mary’s wishes

And all about their youthful kisses

Somehow a letter had found Larry

One she had sent of many

Larry in his hands held a bouquet

“How are you lass?”

He did finally say

“Oh Larry is it really you?”

He bent down and kissed her cheek

Then Mary said without a doubt

“This is the best Xmas I ever knew!”

Then Mary noticed once more

The Robin was perched outside her window

“God bless you little bird

Merry Xmas and thank you!”

Star

images (5)

The crystals of a heart almost crushed

With the fist of life’s cares and woes

But never finding in it’s glistening light

This heart, this love

This eve

One day fades it’s bright

And no more to shine

But wait to see in darkness

There will always exist

The Crystal Star!

The Big ‘C’

anti-smoking-ads-9

When you find you have the Big ‘C’

And your life is in the balance

You might say “Why me?”

Every day becomes a challenge

I would be asking “How long?”

“My days on Earth have left?”

“To sing life’s song?”

I would become bereft

But I haven’t been told that word

And as far as I know

I am not dying or cured

I have some years to go

My child I am around to live

My whole heart always

Each day my love I give

My smokes I threw far away

But it happened to a loved one

In my arms he died

Flowers I place upon his grave

Tears I now cry

I tried each day in vain

“Stop smoking!” I would say

But puffing he remained

He smoked 30 a day

Is it so hard to find a way?

To stop this dreaded habit

And buy all the aids

Available on the market?

And live your days without smoking

You could surely crack it

Stop coughing and choking

Your body becoming fit

Because my loved one he will miss

Together our Christmases

And I wouldn’t have been writing this

Instead buying him his presents!
